advice on horns!
My car has come with no horn- PO did'nt even bother with seatbelts!!!!!
I do not fancy the idea of a Porsche stock horn as my Carrera horn was pathetic!. Has anyone found an upgrade -loud horn which does not sound like a 'Semi' or 'Amtrak' but still get you noticed!. Just something to stop those SUV's driving over me - having not seen me!. Thanks in advance Ben

After getting very tired of the wimpy stock horn I put on my favorite. It is as subtle as a brick upside the head.
Behold... The 130db Freeway Blaster. They are a whopping $9.99 at Harbor Freight. I replaced the high tone stock horn with the low tone blaster. That combined with the low toned stock horn sounds good AND PEOPLE NOTICE. (which is saying a lot on LA's freeways.) Remember that every 6 decibils is a doubling of the volume. Links... Low tone horn. High tone horn. Wayne The racers motto: If more is better than too much is just right. Last edited by Quicksilver; 01-31-2003 at 06:31 PM.. |

Yeah, the stock horns aren't really loud, but I prefer to think of it as like "speak softly and carry a big stick" Not much point in honking, I accelerate or hit the brakes. If I am next to an suv I try to make sure I am a fender ahead of it.

That said, I don't have a problem with my stock '79 horns. They certainly sound loud enough to me inside the car, guess I should check to see which way they are pointed. Gary |
