lifter type on a 3.2

I have an '85 3.2 and cannot find a picture or diagram in the Bentley manual of either the cam shaft or a lifter.

I want to know if the lifters are flat or roller. I think they're flat, but I want to make sure.

Thanks.

Thanks Bill and DRACO.

Therefore, I need to continue to use oil that has high ZDDP levels or is made for flat tappets.

Porsche will be happy to sell you their own branded oil that is appropriate and comes in pretty metal cans! 😊 Has anyone found out who actually produces this for Porsche?

However, I assume that any of the high ZDDP oils would work just fine.

1100-1400, if you can find it. EPA is forcing changes to kill our cars.

I am a little confused by the term Lifter. It is a rocker arm driving the end of a valve stem. There is no lifter like a hydraulic valve..., no?

I originally used the term lifter because I have seen on overhead cam engines with solid lifters a cylindrical shaped piece between the cam lobe and the rocker that provides a flat surface for the rocker contact surface.

It appears that on the 3.2, the cam lobe directly contacts the curved surface of the rocker.

I call them solid lifter sometimes out of habit but yeah your correct, there's no lifters just rocker arms and a cam.

Except on 993 where there actually are lifters on the ends of the rockers
