Power Window troubleshooting

1988 911 Coupe.
The driver side works normally. Checked fuses anyway and it looks good.
Driver side was working with a bit of a delay. Hold the button down (On the driver door) and then after 2 or 3 seconds the window would work.

Now, there is nothing. No movement at all. I replaced both switches for the passenger door. I checked for any cut wires and can't find any back inside the passenger door. I pulled the connections to the motor and cleaned/replaced them.

Any suggestions? If an electric motor is going would it delay movement like that for a second and then work at full speed before dying?
That seems odd to me. Seems like it is some sort of a loose ground or power somewhere. Any ideas are appreciate.

Did you try putting 12V to the motor directly ?

Not yet. Is the elec connector just a pull off, or is it a push and pull? I don't want to yank it off with too much force and break the connector.

UPDATE: I banged on the electric motor a bit while holding the button down and the window went down. Going up it worked fine. I am guessing this points to a new motor?

You can also apply 12V across the 2 middle terminals of the switch connectors.

The passenger window on my '88 does the same thing. Works well, but every once in a while I do what you did: bang on the door card just above the motor while holding the switch on & it'll go. I think it's a motor problem also. Can probably take it apart & grease it up, but it's easier just to bang on the door. ;)

If you have fault isolated to the motor,

remove the motor, clean the internal mechanical connections,

and lube the motor shaft and the end with lithium grease.
