73 Alternators- 3 Types. Interchangeable?

My 73 has a Marchal alternator that is in need of a rebuild/replace. Does anyone know the exchangeability with Motorola and Bosch? Is this time to get a higer amp alt with an internal reg? Also, are the brushes somewhat standardized? I just spoke with someone locally who has them "in stock" Says she has one listing for a 73. ??
Thanks

Scott,

Marchal and Motorola are the same ... only other model is Bosch.

The 1975 upgrade to 980 Watt model with external regulator is one possibility that would be viable using your existing wiring harness.

The later 1982 internally-regulated model Valeo or Parris-Rhone would probably require a new fan mounting shroud, or machine work to fit to your existing shroud.

Marchal Alternator

I searched for a rebuilt Marchal alternator for my '74 so that I would not have to change the fan housing.
In my search I neglected to cancel standing orders with several suppliers and ended up with 3. Happy to sell you a just rebuilt
genuine Marchal with external regulator. See my posts in
