Oil tank clean out

I'm replacing my corroded oil tank with a good one from a junk yard. Any tip on how to clean the inside throughly before I install it?

You might check with your local radiator shop.

Varsol, or Berryman's B-1 2 Chemtool ... rinse and shake, multiple times until no visible residue is prersent in drained solvent.l

Be sure to remove the oil filter mounting pad, and replace the sealing O-ring.

And if you take Warren's advice, be sure to wear a good respirator, (rated for the vapors in solvent used), and chemical resistant gloves, also rated for what you are using.

Berryman's, etc., takes approx. 4 seconds to reach liver upon skin contact. And it is extremely carcinogenic stuff. This is something that often gets overlooked on this board w/ guys talking about using 8 cans of brakeclean to wash engine, , and something that most pros are aware of.

try the por-15 tank cleaner, they make a kit for motorcycle gas tanks that is perfect for oil tanks, the kit is about $25.00 but has a cleaner/etcher and sealer and also get a can of the black exterior paint

web site is: http://www.por-15.com/

Might be a good idea to have it ultra-sonically cleaned. You can never be too careful here. There is no filter between the oil pump and the oil tank.
