Short hood shipping info?
Hey guys,
My short hood is in my storage and I need the dimensions and weight for shipping? Also can you tell me who to use for shipping? Thank you! |
Greyhound is most cost effective for large parcels. Just ain't quick. They have a door to door option if you book online.

I use uship.com for big stuff. I've had transmissions, engines, hoods, etc come without any issues. Good luck!

Do a search here on uship.com before you use them. Be aware that they ARE NOT a transportation company. They are a website that facilitates the link between a shipper(you), and a transportation company. They have no responsibility for the shipment itself. It is your responsibility to insure the transportation company has the proper legal operating authority and insurance.
Personally, I have had a horrible experience with them and would never use them under any circumstances. |
I was trying to buy a short hood and have it shipped from So CA to No CA. Uship quoted me $300 and then gave me grief when I told them they were expensive.

Greyhound can do it but you better pack it carefully. I shipped a metal hood with them and the corners got bent. I have shipped several fiberglass hoods with no damage. For the edges near the cowl I would cut plywood squares and bolt them to the hinge mounts to keep the corners safe. Then use a lot of foam and cardboard padding around the other edges. Two full sized bicycle boxes slid inside each other will work. Last hood I shipped from SoCal to TX was about $80, for a fiberglass hood with a total package weight of 26 pounds (steel hood is probably 25+ pounds more). Took about 2 weeks.
