Sachs Power clutch kit
Hello Boys and girl..
i want to pick your brain. I have recently purchased Power clutch kit -actually not me but a friend who i am doing an engine job for. So we got our-self this Power clutch kit..alu. pressure plate and better friction clutch disc. If i compare the price from Pelican it is nowhere to be close to $ 850 our price $440.. That is actually cool price but .I am skeptical why so much difference in price. The kit i have is made by Sachs in Slovakia. That could be the answer. If any one bought recently the same clutch where was it made? I have asked around ,people are using this clutch but again where does your come from...? thanx for any re: Ivan the power clutch kit form Pelican has a standard clutch dis+alu press. plate on the web page. Mine has this one and alu press.plate |

Hi David
like i said i usually buy if i need something from Pelican or other USA sellers.I am in France but got burned from some local European Porsche suppliers with their trash-Chines spare parts. That is the reason i`m looking for quality and origin of these clutch kits. The kit i have is made in Slovakia ,i assume it is ok but i need some proof.... Ivan mail sent.... |

Recent purchased from our host........
Ivan,
The aluminum pressure plate that I got from PP exactly looks exactly like yours shown in the picture. But I do not remember if the clutch disc was the same as yours (mine already installed). If my memory serves me right, the kit was about $800+. And I also have a NIB steel pressure plate by Sach also made in Slovakia purchased some years ago. So if you buy today a set of aluminum pressure plate and clutch disc from our host, you will probably received the same products made in Slovakia. I have used steel pressure plates made from Slovakia and encountered no problem so far. But have not used aluminum pressure plate. Interested to see other people experience. Tony |

Ho Tony
cool..finally some words--so the Company has moved some of its production to Slovakia...I know of one headquarters in Weiden in Germany i drive by often. On Monday my friend is going to call them to find out more details, i wonder if he will?;-) This could be the price difference then between local European seller and PP...but that much ? My set was 411 euros almost half price...bizarre...that is the reason i`m looking if the quality is the same as PP products... lets see if someone has used this clutch disc...? thanx Ivan |

Is it a aftermarket Sachs ...? i do have some inside story from Sachs in Weiden and Porsche but i cannot use it here... ivan Last edited by proporsche; 04-03-2017 at 02:05 PM.. |

If you have a Slovakia clutch pack, I probably do as well since I changed-out in 2008 with the same kit. I can't remember Slovakia stamped on it and I don't remember Germany either. I have absolutely no confirmation this is the operations unit. It may just be the headquarters. It may be both. https://www.emis.com/php/company-profile/SK/ZF_SACHS_Slovakia_as_en_1546122.html

Is there a date on yours? If it's three + years old, may support the theory? Consider a new throw out bearing fork for insurance.

I would trust Sachs quality control. Date says not an inventory dump.

Hi guys,
Did you install the Sachs power clutch in the end? Looking at a new clutch for an '84 3.2 with 915 and either getting the Sachs OEM or Sachs Power clutch. Concerned that for street use it would be easier to stall with the lighter aluminium power clutch? Thanks! |

Thanks for this and sorry for the thread hijack. What are the pros/cons of the power clutch? My 'net search last night suggested: Pros: - faster revving Cons: - heavier pedal feel - easier to stall (especially on hill starts or in traffic) Symptoms are screeching / squealing on some shifts. It also happened today with the clutch not pressed from stop (I revved the car), so I'm getting it checked before ordering any parts... Current plan is to replace the clutch plate, pressure plate and release (throwout) bearing, as well as a Porsche OE clutch cable. The full Pelican kit has a lot of items, and I really can't decide which of these are really important to do: 930-102-042-00-M157 1 Flywheel Pilot Bearing w/housing, 911 (1980-86), 911 Turbo (1979-88) from eng# 689 0505 (49 state) or 689 1232 (calif) (Brand: Rauch & Spiegel) 930-116-617-00-OEM 1 Helper Spring Spacers, 911 (1978-86) 424-427-INT 1 Clutch Cable, Brand: Gemo 900-027-015-03-OEM 9 B8 Lock Washer 900-036-016-02-OEM 1 Assembly Lower Cover, 911 (1978-86) 900-067-090-02-M260 9 Pressure Plate Bolt (sold per each, 9 required), 911 (1972-86) (Brand: O.E.M.) 900-095-050-00-OEM 1 Throw-Out Bearing Release Fork Roll Pin, 911/911 Turbo (1972-88) 900-234-502-01-OEM 1 Helper Spring Washer, 911 (1978-86) 999-701-209-40-OEM 1 Helper Spring Upper O-Ring, 7.3x2.4mm, 911 (1978-86) 999-701-359-40-M30 1 O-ring, 40x1.5, for 915 throwout guide tube, and late 914 shift shaft housing.
