Fitting 380mm steering wheel in my 911 SC
Hello Pelicans,
I recently purchased a 380mm steering wheel Part # (914 347 806 10) that I am trying to install in my 1980 911SC. I noticed the 380mm wheel fits very close to the dash. I need a hub. (I am not sure what hub any of those who have done this mod have used) My second problem is the cancel ring on the 380mm is shorter than the one in my SC. (how do i make this work?) I have browsed the internet and have used the search button above. It caused me some confusion. I found an early 380mm steering wheel with the exact hub and cancel ring that is on my factory 80SC steering wheel attached to the rear. (please see attached picture) If this is possible I would like to know what mods are needed to do this. It would be a perfect fit. I also looked into the Zuffenhaus website and found their hub adapter. Im a bit confused at this point. Can anybody help? Thank you Sam This is the early steering wheel i found with the same factory hub and cancel ring on my 80sc ![]() This is the 380mm i purchased. ![]() |

If you have your original wheel why not swap the hubs? You may have to tap new holes to mount it but if the diameter fits it's a pretty easy job.

Hey, I got your PM this morning and replied to it before I saw this thread - email me at the shop Monday morning, I have what you need to make this work.

I may be doing this as well. I'm thinking of putting a 380mm 914/6 or early 911 steering wheel in my '86 Carrera and it needs some sort of adapter to bring it closer to the driver.

Sorry for the late update. I drilled the rivets off to make the hub work. I will be purchasing the hub adapter from Zaffenhaus. Next thing will be re-wrapping the steering wheel.
I will post detailed pictures of my progress. It might be a few weeks from now since I have finals coming up. Thank you ![]() ![]() |

Before I start on the steering wheel recovery I decided to give it a try at the ashtray and knee stops. Im replacing the old brown leather with black. The ends were pretty tricky as it needs a bit of stretching and some cutting at the ends. Overall it came out ok.

Sam,
Sent you a PM about this. Wondering if you ever got this to work? And if anyone else is watching and has done this, I'd love to know more. I'm trying to fit an older steering wheel in a '79 coupe.
