Gauge or sender

Is there an easy way to determine if my fuel gauge or the sender is bad?

Unplug the sender. Like the oil pressure sender, the needle should go to the top on the guage.

Take the sender out of the tank, turn it up side down. That should move the guage as the cork travels up

Gas gauge doesn't go below 1/2. Fuel sender does not appear stuck.

Fuel Sender is fine. Open fuel gauge itself?
