I weighed 82 SC bumpers, skirts and tail...

For information

Tail 37lbs
Rear bumper 50lbs
Front bumper 48lbs
Side skirts 12lbs

If you switch to FB there's a decent weight savings!

Excellent. Not sure if you are aware of this thread. The first hundred fifty pounds are easy but not always cheap.

Interesting data.

In an effort to make my car a bit quicker, I made the following mods while retaining some impact protection not afforded by fiberglass bumpers:

- lost the side skirts
- switched stock tail for fiberglass
- rear overrider and rubstrips delete
- front rub strip delete
- switched bumper shocks to crush tubes
- removed heater blower and backdated heat
- removed AC
- center console delete
- removed spare tire

Approx weight savings 150lbs

Does the car feel faster, yup, just a bit.

Surprised you only got a 150 lbs saving with the A/C removal included.

Probably a stupid question, but when people go with fiberglass bumpers they lose all the support / crash structure underneath?

I removed my rear bumper when I did my clutch and remember that thing being HEAVY but I can't remember what was underneath. I was shocked how heavy even those bumper pads were.

Thanks for the post, BTW.

Just be careful to lighten the front too much.
With an emptying tank it'll handle *****y.

Thanks! I haven't seen that.

I knew this info was readily available, but I figured if I posted it again it might be easier for the next guy to find
