Alternator Help Please

After trouble-shooting an Alternator light and identifying a faulty alternator I bought a replacement alternator for my 1971 911E (not from Pelican, that's a whole other unfortunate story) and looking at the back it is slightly different from my original. The colored lines represent the wires that were originally connected, and any markings that were visible. The new alternator on the Left only has Positive and Negative markings.

Anyone here familiar with the new type of alternator? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like your new Alternator has the internal voltage regulator instead of the external voltage regulator your car came with.

PA61s post is all you should need to wire up this alternator. But you may need to modify your fiberglass engine shroud to fit the internal voltage regulator.

the 61 connection is the wire up to the alternator/fan belt warning light up in the instruments, and the article shows how to decrease the resistance of the warning light bulb - if you need to do this.

As long as the physical dimensions of your new alternator are the same as your old one's with respect to the plane of the fan belt pulley, all should be well. As alternators grew in their output power, they got longer, and Porsche had to machine the fan housing deeper and deeper to accommodate them. But that's easy to measure.

And you can get rid of the external VR.
