What size wheels on SC?
 

Anyone know if 275/40 17s fit on the back of a stock SC? Tire Rack recommends 255s, I couldnt fit anything larger than 245s on the Fuchs. These are mounted on the C2 Turbo replicas (Millie Maglias from Tire Rack which i am trying to sell) with the correct offset for the pre 89 cars.

It all depends on the offset. There are those here who will have excellent information for you. All I can contribute is that there is generally plenty of room. I believe that the killer setup is 7" Fuchs in front and 9" Fuchs in back. With tire sizes in the neighborhood of 255 (back) and 215 (front). This is an improvement over stock ("sport") configuration in several ways. More grip. Better match between wheel and tire size. Bigger Biceps. etc.

You have to re-route the oil lines and grind some trailing arm's screws. That's what I was told, I believe JackOlsen is the expert on this.

what size wheel? it is very close on a 9.5 inch wheel. oil lines are in the way and need to be moved and the bolts on your spring plates come in contact also. you can gring the head on the springplate bolts for added clearence and add spacers to move it out a little. just experienced this last night so i know first hand!

275/40x17 on 9.5 or 10" rim is about the physical limit. Here is a pic of the relocated oil lines(into the crease) and ground down trailing arm bolts

In addition the lips needed some serious massage.

The other issue is the rather larger height of the tire and its effect on gearing. For track use this is not a problem, as the increased size of the friction circle overall more than compensates for any gearing degradation, but it will affect performance in the stop light wars.

A nice compromise is the 265/40x17 made by several vendors.

They are the Millie Maglia Cup 1s.
The difference is, I had the 275 rears on my turbo bodied car and had to use a 1" spacer, but someone who is interested in them is asking if they will fit onto an SC car.

I will bring my SC body car over and see if they will fit :-))

Rattlsnak, you have to sell those to me. Not only do I work for a DCI carrier as well but I also am a pilot. I hope you're asking because I have a carerra :)

Mark, I didnt know you worked for DCI, or that you wanted the wheels. Although by your town, Im assuming its "the OTHER" carrier. ! ;) I posted the ad yesterday, and have had a couple people respond, but no one has said, "I want them" as of yet. That would be cool though, I could put them on a flight up to CVG from ATL ! On second thought, knowing our rampers,. Nahhhhh... They would end up in Az. !

Well, its up to him at this point!

We actually have ACA, ASA, *and* Comair flights here in Cincinnati. Comair is the dominant though. We try to do a good job and play nice with the other carriers though...Delta sees to that.

Yeah, Rattl, I'm interested. I need to know for sure though if they'll fit under my fenders, with or without spacers. What kind of tires are on them?

Mark if they are aftermarket wheels and he has them on his car.. they will bolt right up to your 86.... I'd have to say that they are standard 7" front and 9" rears..x17"

They have the BF G-Force R1 Comps. (track tires) 225 fronts, 275 rears. The picture is on the for sale thread.

I know you've probably been asked this a million times, but I'm being slack avoiding the search...do you use spacers for that size...if so what size?

Second, what was your method of 'massaging the lips'?

If it helps, I have these exact wheels (Mille Miglia C2T from Tire Rack, 7.5x17 and 9x17) on my '88 Carrera, with 215-somethings on the fronts and 255/40-17 rears. No spacers or rubbing, and I only had to roll the front lips.
