Removing CIS

I would like to remove the CIS (actually the whole intake system) on my 82SC to get to few leaks on the back of the motor and do a general clean up of the engine and engine bay. How difficult will this be to do with the engine in the car. I have no A/C so it appears that I may be able to remove it from the manifolds on up mostly intact, is this right? I do not want to pull the engine as I don't have the space or the inclination. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Seth

Unless you are a young contortionist, it would be easier to pull the engine. At least a partial drop.

Its actually quite easy on the SC models. 12 intake bolts, 2 fuel lines, unplug harness, throttle linkage and 3 air flow box bolts. Comes out as one big assembly. 30 minutes.....

Thank You Rattlesnake, It appeared that way but I thought there might be more to it. I have no A/C system and a backdated heater system so I seem to have very little in the way.

Thanks,

Seth

I've done it in the car. It can be done, but it does take some contortion.

You will need to drop the engine down, easy to do with a hydrolic floor jack. Take it as low as you can without pulling and wires.

Pulling the engine is not so easy if you don't have a lift.
