You are 8-9 degrees past max timing at 31.

You sure you know what you are doing?

Sorry to be a killjoy.

Just following Don's advice

I think 30 is kinda ok with max octane. Scares me.

You are not a killjoy but If I knew what I was doing I would be asking questions here. The Bentley Bible says 21-25 at 6k, Bob is thinking 30 at 4k so Give me your numbers please.

Valve adj. no big deal. 4mm is pretty easy to gauge by feel. If the gap feels good, leave it alone. Main ones you are looking for are ones that are to tight

Thanks Don, will try that in a.m. I am running a mix of 50/50 (93/105 octane) most of the time it is 93 but I put alittle Avgas in this last time.

With octane "30" sounds ok..........I think.

Keep in mind my head is wrapped around the US 87 octane SC with the wimpiest advance one can imagine. 18-23 is the spec and there is not an official @6,000 number to reference, regardless of what folks say.

I have said previously go to 25 if you feel lucky. But I am Super Chicken.

I am on your side, trust me. I know I am leaving throttle response on the table.

Thanks Bob for your comments. I too like to stay in the safety zone on somethings. yesterday I had a young guy pull up next to me on I-10 kind of egging me to take him on..... 20 years ago I'd been in the hunt. Today I just smiled and waved he gave me the thumbs up an away he went.

Every engine is different. Depends on everything from carbon build up, compression, fuel, engine temp, outside air temp. Hot summer time might have to back it down a little. Getting a little spark knock and then backing off timing is the idea way.

The Bosch Automotive Manual has the best explanations of all the fuel systems. The CIS on my old (dearly beloved) e21 would really push the fuel whenever asked.
