Knee Panel AC "delete"
I have the AC vents on the knee panel and because my car does not have AC I am looking for the correct panels to replace this.
Top pics are my car and bottom is example of same vintage car with the panels I am looking for. My knee panels will be for sale here shortly as well. ![]() ![]()

you don't need new knee panels. just unbolt the ac unit (2 screws on each side) and remove it. Then it will look like the one in the bottom pic.

That's the case on early cars with the factory BEHR vents but his look like an aftermarket setup. After removing the A/C vents you will need to buy the left and right knee pads. The ones for the SCs are still relatively easy to find. Just post a WTB here on Pelican and someone will have a set for you.

They changed the knee pads in 74 and I believe they remained the same through 85 which is why those are easier to find. If you want to be 100% safe you can post that you are looking for 78-85 knee pads but I believe that anything off a 74-85 will fit.

Option #2, is to install a 65-68 SWB one piece knee pad to eliminate the three piece (left & right knee pads & ash tray). It looks much cleaner & eliminates the potential ash tray rattle. I haven't installed it yet, but other's have told me one Of the bolts doesn't line up and need to drill one small hole in dash.
I posted a "WTB One piece knee pad 65-68 SWB" and Arne356 came thru for me. They're for sale on eBay for $400-$500, but posted on Pelican and a brother came thru. Really like your car!

I threw my cheap dealer installed ac knee pad away, before I knew about Pelican. Yours appears to be better quality. I've seen pelican's asking $150-$200. I originally replaced AC with traditional three piece knee pad until I saw a few folks replace with 65-68 SWB one piece. I view adds daily and finally found one after posting WTB. I paid $175, but haven't seen it in person yet. It may need recovering. I live in Asia and been acquiring parts and knowledge from Pelican for my project and eventual USA return.
