Reconditioning Anodized Fuchs
I'm. In the market for a set of wheels to replace my 16x7/8 polished Fuchs. If I find a set that has an 'ok' anodized rim, can that rim be "brought back" and refinished without sending it out? In other words, can the anodized finish be restored easily? Thanks

No. It's easy to repaint faded centers (Rustoleum 7777), but there is no good DIY way to restore the lips.

Send wheels to Rick Hart in Costa Mesa, he's on here. Great work, not pricey. Fast turnaround and good communication.

Depends on what you mean by restore and what the lips look like. If they are scratched or pitted or badly stained, there is no way to DIY restore the anodizing.
One option is to remove the anodizing from the lip and polish the aluminum. Some have painted the lips as well. |
