1987 carrera cab shock recommendation

I have a 1987 carrera cab 97,000 miles. all other suspension in good working order , bushings, etc. This is a street road touring car for me. The car came from the factory with standard shocks not sport. The shocks are sachs touring and are weak and leaking P/O installed at 35,000. I am looking for the best touring shock. I had a previous 87 coupe that had Bilstein heavy duty front and rear and the car road to stiff (wife with back problems.) I have Michelin a/3s all around stock 16" wheels stock suspension height. I don't care about a second faster in corners I just want the car to handle well and ride comfortably, I have had 7 911s 82 to 87 driven over the last 25 years. I don't need all the B/S about if you want comfort drive a Lexus just some good recommendations from someone who has the same driving style that likes the shocks they put on their car that they think would work for my application. Thanks

I put KYB's on my car and I'm satisfied. I don't put a lot of miles on the car and it does not get tracked. I think from reading your OP that you have already answered your own question. Bilstein heavies are out. Just put the stock Boge back in the car and call it a day.

Thanks Cabmando. I don't see boge shocks or inserts on Pellican parts. Are Sachs for boge inserts equivalent to the original boge shocks. Alignment recently done. Do I need to realign after rear shocks and front inserts.

The car may get slightly higher or lower on the new shocks, but it shouldn't be enough to require a new alignment.

I bought Bilstein inserts for Boge struts on PP and they are a great fit.

Too bad Bilstein doesn't make an adjustable shock for the torsion bar cars.

Custom-valved Bilsteins will make you (and your wife) very happy and they last longer than anything else.

As above members have said, Koni is a great shock and has some value to it as well. Also, if you get Koni shocks before 10/31, there is a great rebate that you can take advantage of. Link below:

I didn't have to do any alignment when I replaced mine. I think Sachs is Boge. Your ride height might change a bit but give it some time for the struts to "settle in".

Steve @ Rennsport was my choice to re-valve the Billsteins on my Turbo-Look Cab; the results were outstanding.
