Which horn is which?

On my 72 911t the horn is... laughable. I was doing a quick check on it this weekend and found out the horn that points forward is not working at all... so is that the high tone or low tone?
And would you bother replacing it, or upgrade???

Not sure which is which. I replaced the non-functional trumpet horns in the 73E with round Hella horns. I'm kind of regretting that move as the horns now make me think of old VW beetles (not that there's anything wrong with that!). My 95 993 horns sound sooo good. I think that's the sound I want in the 73E.

Don't forget that some of these horns are adjustable. Pull horn from car, ground in a vise and apply 12v. Then unlock the set screw's lock nut and turn, very slowly, in and out until you begin to hear noise.

Possible it is out entirely, but this procedure cures horns that work, letting you find the perfect pitch, via resetting the diaphragm via set screw.

if there is a part number on your non-working horn, this might help....

the fanfare trumpet horns are:

High: 911 635 101 00
Low: 911 635 102 00

Great ideas and help!
I'll pull the non working one, look for a part# and see if I can bring it back to life.
Thanks!

I would suggest taking both apart and cleaning the plunger by the film. They probably need it after living in a wheel well for 30 years. After cleaning the adjustment is simple. They will sound great afterwards.
