Power Window No Power at Fuse#1

Power Windows Woes

I am hoping that some kind soul will help me understand where the power comes from for fuse #1 in the luggage compartment.
When my Power windows dont work, which is intermittent, there is no power at this fuse posistion at all, even when touching the wire directly.

At the #1 Fuse there are 2 wires. The upper is black and the lower is Red/Blue stripe

Can anyone tell me if the this fuse #1 is fed voltage via the ignition switch or the Power Window Control Relay 944-615-116-00

PLEASE AND THANK YOU

The schematic shows that power comes in the top of the fuse through the black wire from the Passenger Window Control Unit. The red/blue wire runs from the bottom of the fuse to pin 1 of the connector in the frunk to connection 5 of the passenger window switch on driver's side door.

The PWCU gets it's power from the red/black wire at pin 7 which originates on the top side of fuse 5 in the left hand fuse block in the schematic above (the X bus - powered with ignition switch in ON and RUN positions) and pin 2 a large red wire from the top of fuse 2 (the 30 bus - always hot bus).

You will need to print/cut & tape these two pages.

Note, the small three fuse block is located in the engine
compartment behind a plastic cover.
And is not associated with your issue.

Fuse #1 and #5 are your fuses of interest.

Best,

Gerry

Power Windows Woes

Thank you all for your responses
Car is a 1986 911 Carrera 3.2
I will start tracing from the information you have provided

Philip7 09-17-2019 12:25 PM

You found the solution? Got the exact same problem..

Philip7 09-18-2019 12:27 PM

Got two 911's 3.2. So tried switching some parts to try and eliminate and to find the problem.
Coupe / non working power windows and sunroof.
Targa / working power windows.

No voltage on fuse 1
Switched all window levers -> no result + no voltage
Switched Power Window Relay -> no result

Something else I could try?

I had this problem, checked all the lines, fuses and switches

The solution was the square relay behind the dash clocks

^^^^ Yup, usually that relay that allows the windows to work after ignition off and before you open the door. Kind of a safety thing. ^^^^

Thought I checked the relay but wasn’t the case.
You guys were right. Relay was the problem. Thanks!

One of these?

Never mind. Located behind the fuel gauge

Sorry to take this in a different direction but it is somewhat related. In diagnosing and solving an A/C compressor electrical issue another issue presented itself.

Specifically, after I replaced the black relay for the A/C compressor in the fuse panel, the #1 fuse location (in block 3) for the power windows got really hot, too hot to touch in fact. The fuse didn't blow. But it wanted to melt the plastic that held the brass fuse.

The power windows have always worked and continue to work. But in the minute, or so, it took to really heat up that #1 fuse panel position I'd guess I was headed for an issue that could have really ended up in something bad.

I felt the wires going in and out of the #1 location and they didn't feel hot (warm, yes). Any places to start this diagnosis?

Thanks, in advance, for the assistance.
