911 SC Glove Box Emblem by Kyle

About a year ago I got a wild hair and decided I wanted an early 911 glove box emblem just like the longhoods have. I have really finicky tastes, and if its not original from the factory I tend to not do it. But I'm ok with certain customizations that are in line with what the factory may have done or did on earlier cars.

I had just bought a 3.0 deck lid badge from Kyle and was really happy with the quality so I contacted him again to see about making a special 911SC badge in the same style as the stock 911SC deck lid emblem. Kyle agreed. After some back and forth over design, and working out a few bugs, I finally installed the stainless steel badge today on my glove box.

And it looks great.

I bought an original 911SC decklid badge off the classifieds, as well as an original 911T emblem to use as prototypes. I had Kyle make the 911SC emblem the same height as the 911T badge. Obviously it's much longer because of the design.

I did some mockups with position and ended up placing the emblem on the upper "fold" of the glove box door. Because the emblem is longer, it looked a little bold on the lower, wider portion where the early badges were placed. It just didn't look factory to me. I positioned it closer to the crease rather than centering it vertically. Just looked better this way. I checked the position from both passenger seat and driver's and from outside the car. I think this position looks the best.

Kyle installed special double stick tape to the back of the emblem. All I had to do was peel off the backer and press it into place.

Because we did a lot of prototyping and back and forth on this, I recommend you contact Kyle for pricing if you want one made.

Kyle is great to deal with, the product is excellent, and it looks pretty slick to me.

Indeed! I would not bother adding badges inside.

That looks great! I'd just thought about that very same idea a few days ago! Great minds think alike! Super Carrera's rule!

Thanks guys! It looks brighter and larger in these pics than reality. I tried to capture how it looks in the car buy it's tough. It really does look stock.

Really like what you have done. Kind of a retro- modern cool. As you probably know, the early cars had theirs mounted similar to your first pic, but in the lower right quadrant. Not that you can't do your own thing. .
