Tool Set - Long Allen Wrench Use
 

I found out at least one use for the long allen wrench with the rubber tip - that's in the Porsche Factory SC tool set. Long story short, the battery went dead when staying with a relative. Went to remove battery to swap out with the new, and had only the factory tool set. Without my garage toolbox, I realized I might have problems removing the allen head bolt holding the battery bracket. I browsed through the factory tool pouch and noticed the long allen wrench with the rubber tip. Guess what? It fits the battery bracket bolt head! And because of the shaft length, it clears the battery height.

What's the rubber tip for?

It seems the reason it's there is to help center the wrench on the head of the bolt, since it is a long reach down the side of the battery.

It also happens to fit the bolts that hold the seat in place. I found this out after I had a 1/2 gallon of apple cider spilled in the rear footwell behind the driver seat. I had to pull the seat to make sure the DME was floating in apple juice! It did give me a chance to really clean out under the driver's seat. It's amazing how much crud (and loose change!) can accumulate under a car over 15 years and 176K miles...

Your not kidding about how much change can be found after all those years. When I removed my seats to clean the carpet, it was like getting a $10 rebate in change for buying my car!
