Pedal Cluster Rebuild Parts list
'84 Carrera Coupe and I need to replace the pedal cluster bushings. I have the bronze kit, but what other parts (springs?) should be replaced when taking this thing out and apart?
Does having the pedal cluster out make it easier to do any other maintenance i.e. while I'm in there? |
Just rebuilt mine.
I don't think the bronze kit comes with the plastic bushing at the far right of the clutch rod. At least mine didn't. Also, some people break the clutch cable clip when removing it, I didn't as I looked at how to remove it first, but FYI. There are the throttle cable bushings (3) in the tunnel. I think that's a separate project though. There are also two bronze bushings in the arm at the bell housing (under the car) I only bought one, but you need two. You could also replace the throttle bushings at the top of the engine. These are all the same plastic parts that usually disintegrate. I'd also recommend a thin long punch to remove the clutch pedal roll pin. When replacing the roll pin, you can actually roll it up using vice grips (compress it with one) then put another on and compress it more, do this a few times and then you can tap it in easier. |

New clutch rod. I know the kit comes with a filler piece to help when the clutch rod is worn into an oval, but it's not much more to replace it completely. I can promise you that once it's worn past a certain point, putting the harder brass filler piece in will accelerate the wear on the pot metal arm, and it WILL eventually tear apart, which WILL happen when you're shifting while stuck in rush hour traffic. I promise that ;) Clutch Pedal Pad 91442321000 - O.E.M. - Porsche - 914-423-210-00 | Pelican Parts > pads Pedal Shaft 93042302701 - O.E.M. - Porsche - 930-423-027-01 | Pelican Parts > clutch arm Clutch Pedal Spring 91142330506 - Genuine Porsche - 911-423-305-06 | Pelican Parts > clutch spring Clevis Pin for Clutch Cable 99916600102 - O.E.M. - Porsche - 999-166-001-02 | Pelican Parts > Clutch clevis pin, these also wear down and break |
Thanks Guys! I appreciate the thorough responses.
Pazuzu: Is the "clutch rod" the same thing as the "clutch arm" you linked to which is referred to as a "pedal shaft" in the actual link? All the same part? |

The rod then goes through the entire pedal cluster and is pinned to the actual clutch pedal via the roll pin, which also is in your rebuild kit. I speak from experience :D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/925996-emergency-clutch-pedal-help-needed.html |
