Rush fans? Another Celebrity-Owned 911.
For those of you who know who Neil Peart is, I'm wondering if that makes this car any more valuable. Not that I'm considering a 964 cab, but just curious. I recently read Neil's latest book, in which he refers to his Porsche convert. So it might be for real and the speedo is even metric - he lived in Quebec at the time.

Hmmmm,
California plates on a car being sold in Texas, that may have been owned by a Canadian....

Actually, Neil did recently move to CA. Don't know how it ended up in TX though.

Reminds me of one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes:
George: "I know this car belonged to John Voight!" Jerry: "But I thought he spelled Jon without an H." Hmm, interesting mods done to the interior. Now, I'm probably one of the biggest RUSH fans on the board (thus my license plate that reads BARCHETTA), but I would be a little skeptical about this car. But the plate that says it was made for Neil Peart is intriguing. Which book were you reading, Ghost Rider ?

Just finshed Ghost Rider the other day. Excellent read. There's a sentence mentioning Selena (daughter) and himself driving back to CA. listening to Madonna.
Says that the car is a one owner - it's possible if they can provide the registration, should still have his name on it. Or probably some ailias, they did that a lot to protect his privacy. May have been owned by Neil, and he may have disposed of is as quickly as he bought it. Must be nice to be that wealthy. Although he does also mention in the book that he almost started to go under.... rjp (I thought I was the biggest fan, if not a close 2nd.)

He also mentioned renting a Boxster to take a lady on a date. He only had his BMW bike in LA and needed a car for the date. I once saw a postcard he had sent to a guy from the Ferrari Club of America on his then new 308. Yeah, I think Neil had or has quite a garage full of toys.

yeah, I'm sure he's got a lot of stuff floating around. What else could you spend your money on? I'd be lost without a car. Alex likes cars too, I have an old article somewhere buried from CAR STEREO REVIEW showcasing his 380 SEC with Hifonics gear. Now that's cool.
Neil renting a Boxster? I cheered when he got some off the LA girl. rjp

If anyone's interested, there was a great article about Neil in the February issue of Cycle World.

I like Harald's 94 speedster better...not to mention Harald actually appreciates the car as he builds them and drives them!

I'm not sure who's the bigget Rush fan on this board (a debate for another day..)
But personally, I don't see this car being any more or less valuable than any other speedster. Would I like to have it - yes. is it worth more to somebody else? Only to a select few I would say. It is very nicely finished thogh. I also would like ot know the story behind the namepate. Do they give you those if you Custom order a car? Or can you have those made? Very cool! Chuck

I must admit, I've never been much of a Rush fan. Could never really get past Geddy Lee's gelding voice. Sure, Neil Peart's an amazing drummer, but only in a technical way... not a ball-swinging soul maniac kinda way like Keith Moon or John Bonham. And he's just too well-behaved a personality!
In David Lee Roth's autobiography - a hilarious, insightful read! - he says he never wants a new sportscar (I'm paraphrasing here).. he says he wants a sportscar with a history of inspiring decadence. Something that's been smoked in and f*cked in, maybe lightly wrecked once on a cocaine bender. And I have to agree. If I were to pay extra money for a celebrity car, the thing would have to have AN AURA, man. It would have to have been owned by a wild man. I'd much rather have Rod Stewart's scratched up Daytona Spider than Neil Peart's frickin spotless C2. Know what I mean?
