Which Magnaflow Muffler?

I am in need of a muffler for my 1985 backdate project. It is a stock 3.2 with CAT. I want to try a Magnaflow if I can get it tucked up out of the way so it isn't really visible below the rear center panel. I am looking at one in and one out. Which model are people using?

Thanks!

I have a 10436 resonator with 3.6 and sounds awesome.

Interesting choice. How did you end up selecting that one?

for space availability reasons...

A muffler should be tuned to the motor....more noise/larger exhaust pipes does not equal better torque or HP except, possibly, at WOT.
Noisier muffler on a stock set up usually means the torque band just got moved north (peakier) from your sweet spot so you are actually slower.
A trade off ....if it is simply about noise or look then it is ok I suspect.

Thanks. I think I will experiment with the Magnaflow 14210 first and see how that goes.

Maybe also try asking Jack Olson, as I believe that he also has run them for some time.

I just installed the Magnaflow about 3 weeks ago. Good stuff
Sorry for the partial view. Sounds good;)

I have 11386, which is 2-in/2-out with 2.5" diameter pipes. (The 2.25" one is 11385.) I have it lower than it needs to be, but I'm trying to use it as part of my underbody aero.

With a stock 3.2 with CAT under the backdated sheetmetal (which doesn't hang down as low as the later cars), I think I need one in one out on the same side. I will mock up the 14210 and see how it will fit.

Indeed. What are the goals here? If you want a louder exhaust, pull the rear seats and sound pad and save some weight...

I used a Magnaflow 12265 for a 1 in 1 out conversion to a 1 in 2 out. Fits nice and sounds great

This is what I have. Hangs slightly below the rear fascia. $68 though.

My original post:

I don't care if it is a bit louder and I do have my seats out and sound pad out.

I think on a backdate that would be quite a bit more visible.

Tremelune 10-06-2017 03:48 PM

For decreased visibility I recommend black paint.

tdw28210 10-07-2017 04:59 AM

^^^^Agreed^^^ VHT rattle can paint works well. Carried at most FLAPS.
