Bizarre Headlight Problem
Just recently, when I turn on my headlights, the wipers turn on with it. Sometimes the wipers will spontaneously turn off, sometimes they stay on until I turn the lights off.
I have LED headlights, but they've been in for over a year and it's never happened before. Has this ever happened to anyone else and how in the world would the two even be related? |
Had a similar problem with the wipers coming on sporatically, except mine did it when I used the turn signals. Did a lot of trouble shooting with a power probe, and found it was a ground loop problem. The cause was
a poor ground on a corroded wire in the "wire stack" located under where the battery negative cable mounts to the body. Cleaned up all the connectors and the problem was fixed! Take a look, clean up the connectors and you might fix it. Ground loop problems can cause many unexplainable things. |
Ahh, you know, I had removed an old stereo wire from the big negative mount near the battery a couple of days before I noticed it! I could have messed with the connections without realizing it.
I will definitely start there! Thanks for the tip! |
That was it! Cleaned up the connectors on the main ground terminal and all is right with the world of headlights and wipers!
