We recently started a 914/6 clone build where the 2.7L engine was supplied from a separate donor car. The car drove into the shop under its own power. Upon disassembling the engine we find this:

Wow what a mess. We are seeing a fair amount of this sort of thing as folks drag these cars out of the shed for restoration. The damage done by rodents is horrific. Wires eaten, air ducts blocked, exhaust become a grain silo and hay barn. If you are storing your 911 for any time at all please take some time and mouse proof it the best you can. You won't be sorry!

Mine was similar (but not quite as many nut shells) when I took it apart with majority of the nut refuse on the oil cooler. I found one baked-on mouse near the breather. The mag case had quite a bit of staining from uric acid in one location behind the alternator. They didn't touch the wiring, but did eat through a fuel hose near the gas tank.

The little rats eat wiring on f550 too, I have that problem to fix.

Almost every spring I have a small engine needing the shroud removed to clean out debris. I always watch for fluff poking out the cooling fins. A couple years ago I had to change the clutch in my Jeep because it was slipping due to debris caught in the clutch fingers. Traps with peanut butter do a nice job. But they have to be set to work

Filthy little B**tards are hard to keep out of everything. I bought a couple of electric traps and have executed several of the buggers in my "Old Sparkys". They will be well placed when I store the car in November.

Lately I have been having good luck with some pump spray from Lowes called Repel-All. I doesn't kill them it discourages them, no rotting bodies to pick up:) $13 a bottle, smells like crappola for about 10 minutes till it dries ( clear) and then good to go. It supposed to make everything taste really nasty;)

I am currently working on a delorian that has sat since 2003 in a garage and so far have removed 4 large old nests and the car still smells bad inside. I am surprised that I didn't catch a lung disease when I removed the interior it was so bad. I can't believe the stench and everything else that they leave in their wake.

I just recently sucked out a lot of acorns/nuts etc from under the intake manifold on my A4. I think the chipmunks have been storing them there for the winter. Hopefully they didn't do any wire damage, but I'm not sure chipmunks care much for wires. Cleaned it up and moved the car to a less acorn-dropping location (has to stay outside because the rust-prone cars go inside :D

Inspired me to get an FX Impact in .177, at 25 yards it will put pellets through the same 1 pellet diameter hole. After shooting at 1000 yards for years, this is a gas(pun intended). Actually like shooting again. Now waiting for rain and wind to mix it up.....
