I liked the $4,500,000.00 Le Mans-winning 917 for sale in the UK a few months back ... a LOT better!

What do they mean "show and display registration"? I'd want to drive that puppy down to burger king.

Are you kidding?! I wouldn't go a dime over $640K with 3,000 miles on it!

Bill,
I believe that means you can't drive it on the streets ... non-compliant with DOT/EPA requirements! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa 1992 Dodge Dakota 5.2 4X4 parts hauler |

Hey
We have one of those in New Zealand - it was on display for a while down at the dealer. Side-by-side with a normal car you can actually see the resemblace (for what little there is). I don't know how much the one here gets driven. It would be fun to be friends with the owner :-). Imagine showing up at an track day (or whatever), ready to go! I always thought the trackday idea would be fun with a 906 (if I had money to BURN). ------------------ Cameron Baudinet 1975 911S (in bits) 1969 911T |

Hello
One from my old buisness partners runed the Ferrari Dealership in Geneva. Maybe I can call him to check them out. Yet he never does something for free.... ( strictly buisness ) The Ferrari has US specs and will maybe attract someone. And the other cars are a bit overpriced. The GT1 is build around a 993 and shares the front end so Porsche saved time and money as they didn´t had to make the Crash approvals. Yet it was also a tricked out car like the Moby **** by just reading the rulebook different to others. One Problem was the car had to much steelpanels compared to the CLK or ML F1 and then they changed the restrictors for turbos and shortend the aerodynamic zone on the underbody ( to avoid those take off´s ). Both had been a disatvantage to Porsche and so they only could use there better milage and hunt the others to dead or failures. This is the reason why the F50 never came on the racetrack. Ever had seen a F40 finish a race ? Grüsse |

Show/Display means you can legally put something like 1000 street miles (maybe less) on it a year. Check the Excellence issue that did the Turbos comparison--the 959 in that article was registered in the same category.

Too bad, but with '86 Turbo and the kids' bikes, theres just no enough room in the garage. Think I could arrange a trade with him?(the bikes for his car!)

Am I the only one who thinks this picture is a 1/18 or so scale model? If so you won't need much garage space.

I'm with RarlyL8, that is not a full size car. I read each reply just to see if anyone else thought that.
As far as the show and display law goes, cars of "historical significance" can be imported for limited road use (2500 miles per year) The law was helped to get passed by Bill Gates who has a 959 that sat in a box in a SanFran. customs warehouse for 12 years. There was also an article a while back in C&D also. |

Add another vote for non-scale. The pic has been highly modified.

It's not a scale model! It's outdoor pic with background blured (for whatever reason).
Take a look at the pavement
