Left intake Removal Procedure
 

Hi everyone 1988, 911 Cab with a leaking fuel line issue. Just purchased the replacement fuel lines from Griffiths Air Conditioning.

Unfortunately, Charlie cannot provide directions due to legal liabilities as I was told by him. According to Charlie it would take him 6 hours to replace the fuel lines. I figure this is going to be my winter project as the car is undriveable due to the leak and I am looking at 10 hours on a good day with cursing.

It is quite substantial leak, and thank G-- I pulled over and had it towed other it would have been a fire for sure in the engine compartment

Like some things here in the forum the key details on how to remove a driver side intake and the fuel line replacement procedure is lacking and all over the place.


I would be happy to post the whole procedure but for now I need help on fuel line removal and left intake removal procedure as I do not have the bentley manuel

I know some people have done a partial engine drive because the fuel lines are a bit-- to get to. That's not in the cards for me at this time.

Would appreciate the help and guidance of those who have been there in the fuel line and left intake removal procedure

If you're taking off the left, might as well take off the whole thing. That said you can get the Y-shaped line installed with the intake in place. I've seen it done. Stood right beside my friend Mark (RIP buddy) as he battled it out on top of the engine.

But since you're also doing the straight line across the back of the engine, it's hard to get a wrench back there because it's so close to the shock absorber crossmember

A big help in getting the intake nuts off is a hex key with the ball end. The ball end lets you get at the nut from an angle. Also, cut the bend off the key and insert the straight piece into an 8mm socket.

If you're pulling the left side, is go ahead and pull the right and refresh the intake gaskets and spacers.
