82 911SC Door panel
Hey Guys,
I need to take the driver side door panel off to address the broken "limiter" that restrains door. I've removed many a door panel but never one on my 911. Knowing how some 25 year old parts might be somewhat fragile, I am willing to throw this out there and wait for some responses before I jump into this. Are there any hidden clips or screws that aren't obvious? I don't want to be tugging on things that should be tugged. Thanks in advance Warren ![]() ![]() |

In order to remove the door panel, proceed as follows:
![]() 1) Take off the cap of door lock knob, then the screw 2) Unscrew at the ends the pass side and 3) Remove the pass side panel 4) Remove the glove box (screws allround) 5) Free the plastic lever ![]() 6) Remove (screws on top and rear the black lever) 7) Remove 8) With a big screwdriver pull off the invisible pins (arrows) Here's the slide of the door (inner side) ![]()

Hi All
![]() Oops just noticed that the original post is some time ago ![]() From a process completeness perspective, it's recommended to disconnect the battery before you start any work with the door switches, etc. Then you don't have to worry about the risk of shorting out power mirror relays, or window switches, or anything else electrical.... I've never figured out IF it's supposed to be this way, but my '80 SC has power to the window switches all the time. H |

And don't be surprised if you find a genuine handmade drawing of the wiring diagram for the window switches taped to the inside of the door or the back of the door card.

How do you take off the cap of door lock knob (step 1)
I have pulled and turned anticlockwise, but it remains stuck, and I don`t want to use to much force on it. Thanks for feedback |

There is a small circular cover in the centre. Remove it carefully with a small screwdriver or knife and behind it you will find one screw ✌🏾

great tutorial!
@trojwl: be prepared that some of the cone-headed clips in panel may rip (arrows in wolands foto, part#8 in schematic). either they break in halves, so have some new ones ready or they rip out of the cardboardpanel. in this case fix the bore with some resin ore glue the clips in right away. also: be prepared that the water-proof lining behind the panel may be old and worn. you can easy make a new one out of other plastic. I cut a large garbage bag into shape. as you have speakers in the door you might notice that the old plastic hasea sort of hood to cover the speacers rear. make that up too to protect them.

![]() That gave me inspiration to make an overlay picture with some arrows describing the position of the screws to take an inner door panel apart: Red arrows: Philips screws in different sizes. The biggest is for the knob to look the door. Green arrows: Allen screws holding the armrest/door opening handle. Blue arrows: Philips screws connecting the glove box to door handle and small plastic parts connecting the glove box to the door. You have to remove these before you can get to some of the philips screws holiding plastic parts to the door, but you will see that when you're taking everything apart Yellow arrows: Plastic clips holding the door panel to the door. ![]()
