Door lock issue, Goes in lock, but open agin the next second.
After been working with a stuck power window yesterday on my 88 convertible, I got a problem with the door lock. Door lock was working just fine before I started with the window issue, but I had to remove the door trim to access window motor.
Now, I can`t look the door from inside (can`t move the knob at all). If I use the key/power lock from outside, door goes in lock, but pops open again after a second... Thanks for all help |
Hi ..it is possible that your door handle micro switch ,on picture number 4, is not clipped into the door handle.

Try this first. Remove the top door trim & see if the lock works w/out the trim. If it works, you have to find the proper alignment of the top door trim- you do this via the two screws at the end of the trim (near the hinges).
Make sure the vertical lock rod can move freely up & down. Adjust & check. This happened to me while working on a window problem too. |
I tried to disconnect the lever from the locking swivel, and the swiwel part are working ust fine.
Then I disconneced the arm on the locking solenoid and that part are also working just fine. So then I`m left with the latch assembly itself. I`m not able to move it at all into lock possition with the solenoid and indoor locking swivel disconnected, it`s like its mecanically stucked. Any ideas that kan help me out. (by the way, it`s hard to access and work with the lock assembly..) |
