Road Atlanta Petite Lemans

Now that I moved east it is time to check out the racetracks on the other side of the country. Just arrived at the Porscheplatz here at Road Atlanta. Met the president of the Peach State PCA region. They were very happy to see someone in an old aircooled car with some patina from some hard use.

It is a pretty venue and pretty laid back compared to what I'm used to. Maybe tomorrow will have a bit more frenetic energy to it.
_______
So if anyone is familiar with the track...
Where is the best food and the main "vendor row".

Watching the Cup cars mixing it up through the esses. Five car lead pack just hammering through...
Until car 49 overcooks turn 5 and goes off 2 wheels in the gravel and loses 2 seconds!

(The current leader and 2nd place...)

The esses look very interesting. I'll have to see about a track day here.

Cool to see the dudes on the far side of the track, opposite the entrance, with "patios" on top of their motor homes. That's living.

Its a great road course. The infield gives you access to just about everywhere. Find a shady spot under the trees, plop down on the ground and enjoy the event. I haven't been to the Petit Lemans in several years, but I'm guessing Dr. Don Panoz still owns the place.....he's the fellow that invented the nicotine patch. As a smoker I'm down with that!

I'm here with my son. So nice to see a racetrack with some elevation changes compared to the flat tracks in florida. Then took the 944 out for a drive in the mountains. Btw the porsche factory cars are incredibly louder than the rest of the field and louder than I have ever heard them something must be differant.

I love Petit Le Mans. Always have a good time.

I was supposed to be there. Had my tickets and Porscheplatz pass and everything. Then the boss decided he wanted to have his staff planning meeting this weekend.

My buddies are all there. Yellow 968, red 997 S cabrio with a ducktail and silver 996 turbo. They sent me videos of them doing the parade laps today.

Hope you have a great time!

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

And the guy behind Panoz cars. There is usually a Panoz at Caffeine & Octane.

I think last year at PLM was the last time the Panoz Delta Wing ran in the prototype class.

Unfortunately I put them up for sale on the Peachstate Facebook page a couple of weeks ago and they were sold in minutes.

I'm here, as usual. It's the 20th Anniversary of PLM, but only 17 for me. I'm not saying I won't miss it for anything, but I haven't since '01. My favorite viewing area is 10A/10B, but as several have mentioned, you can access most of the track from the infield. We walked 6.7 miles and 23 stories yesterday.
