wobbly wheel bearing

hi

what is the best way to press the hub into the rear wheel bearing. I used a halfshaft and ran the hub on with an impact.

The wheel is now very loose/wobbly and i dont wanna do this to the other side, so i am wondering what is the correct way to do this.

Thanks
Kyle

I just did both of mine. To keep lateral pressure down you need a backstop for the inner race of the bearing on the axle side of car. I made a simple tool for this job. Cost was about $4. I went to the hardware store an got 1)5/8" by 7" gal. bolt.2) 2 5/8 washers and 1 nut 3) a 5/8" ogee washer. I ground the edges of the ogee washer until in just slip into the backside of the control arm bearing cup and fit against the back of the bearing. I put washer on bolt, then ogee washer then inserted bolt trough bearing so that the threads are sticking out on wheel side. Put hub over bolt, put washer then nut on and tightened nut. A hand socket is what I used so i could go slow and make sure the hub was straight. With the ogee washer pushing from the back of the bearing and the hub from the front , there was no lateral forces on the bearing to damage it. It is much easier to do than to explain. Just a note, if you damageed the inner race of the bearing so that the wheel wobbles a lot, you need to replace the bearing again. I also had to do this on one side. Hence my "special tool". Good Luck.
