P201 yoke really holds engine with 2 bolts???
I don't understand how this yoke can really hold the weight of the engine with just 2 bolts.
I took out the 2 studs and put in two 2 bolts... probably threaded an inch into the engine block with the yoke on it. I'm amazed that this entire engine can be held on by just 2 bolts on the yoke and engine stand. Am I missing something or is that really all it takes??? Do I need to get certain bolts to hold it? I just picked up a couple M10 x 1.5 bolts from my local hardware store. |

Only 1/2" of penetration with the bolts. I think that two M10's will be just fine for a lighter engine. I will admit, I was a touch skeered. Steel is an amazing material. |
Hi you are not missing anything...i just did this engine and look just 2 holding places on a factory yoke...

On a P201 engine yoke, the lip recess hold the engine. The 2 nuts (on the original stud) hold the yoke in place.
If you use the Stomski kit (STOMSKI-SR028), they mentioned finger tight which I did many time. Pelican Parts - European Automotive Parts and Accessories - Porsche • BMW • Mercedes • Volkswagen • Audi • Saab • Volvo • MINI |

The bottom is just a bolt, don't over do it, you could probably crack the case... Holding the motor upright, or with the drivers side up is pretty strong as the yoke cradles it... Drivers side down, heaven forbid with all the ancillaries on, seems way more iffy based on geometry... |
It's fine even rotated, even on a 997 Turbo engine. Don't overthink it, it was designed by people who made tanks for a living.

well... I'm not leaving the studs in... they seemed sketchy. Barely in there... as I was able to pull one of them out with little force.
So I bought bolts that match the threads to hold the yoke to the engine. Still surprised it holds, but I guess I will give it a try. |
Don't look for problems where there are none. It works. Period.

Where's the best place to get this yoke?
