Fabspeed experience

I've been wanting to buy a Fabspeed premuffler and posted a question here about the best source.

I finally e-mailed Joe at Fabspeed to make sure they actually had them in stock before I ordered. He said they did, so I placed my order Monday and just received it today.

The part is incredibly well fabricated and just beautiful. I almost hate to bolt it on the car. The service was excellent too.

what was the final cost and if you can, post some pics of the installation.

Good luck

He's getting $250 for them now, but no complaints here. I'll post pics after I get it installed, along with the Dansk Sport muffler (with 84mm/3.25" tip) that I just bought from our host. Might be a few weeks before I get time - going to Puerto Rico next week!

Wavey,

Do you have access to a dyno? I don't know what kind of car you have, but I am considering the same so I would love to see real world numbers pre and post.

Getting a premuff out of him is one thing...got mine in about a week also. I've been waiting over a month for a Fabspeed dual-out muffler. Supposedly it is even more beautiful and carefully engineered than the premuff. I assume that it'll be worth the wait. Will let you know.

I got Fabspeeds on my 933, and although they look great I was not happy with the sound. Way to quiet. They are at least 40% quieter than GHLs, or B&Bs. And about 20% louder than stock.

Please let me know how you like that combination, I have a Dansk dual in-dual out big tip muffler on my '80SC, I removed the cat and installed a straight pipe....WAY too loud, ok for the track but much too loud and echoey for the street. Got a lot of the plop, plop, plop on decelleration too. I've looked at the fabspeed, looks really nice, but I'd like to know how much that premuffler helps instead of a straight pipe.

It's an '88 Carrera Coupe.

There are some dyno facilities in the area, and I'd like to know that myself, so I may do a run after I get everything installed, which may be a while because my business is really jumping right now. The car already has the top cut off the air box and a K&N filter. I also got my hands on one of the Club Sport chips (p/n 1267355358), so I may do a "before" with the air box and exhaust, then an "after" with the chip added. I'd like to eventually get the original chip custom burned by Steve Wong.

Will do. I was going to run a Bursch cat pipe and muffler, but after doing some more research in this BB I decided the Dansk Sport and a premuffler would probably yield a sound that's more acceptable to me. About half of my driving in this car is road trips, so I didn't want too much "drone" at mid-revs. I also decided I'd rather keep the car closer to an original look.
