911 2.7 oil pump and pressure valves mixup help
Hello,
I'm building 2.7 CIS engine and run into a problem. I ordered all the parts for oil pressure upgrade including oil pump with screen, oil restrictors in head housings, hydraulic tensioner set etc. Problem is with oil pressure valves. At first I ordered all parts for factory bypassed engine case from 76, after parts arrived I had to switch to 75 case without bypass mod, which I forgot, and now I have half assembled engine. The question is: which pressure pistons and springs should I use with this combo (no bypass case with newer pump and restrictors)? Thanks for any help. Peter |

Use the oil bypass pistons and springs that were originally with your '75 case.
Or disassemble your partially assembled case, make the oil bypass mod, and use the late style pistons/springs you bought. Throw away the oil restrictors in the cam feed line. |

Found another problem, I only have one older style piston. Can I use newer type in side of the case? My understanding is that bypass is connected to piston that goes underside of the block. I can also drill holes in newer style piston if necessary.
