cv joint thickness

Hi, Just received a rebuilt axle for my '71T. I bought the '72-'74 shaft cause it was $25 cheaper than the one for '69-'71. Catalog said there were no modifications needed to install. The cv's on the new axle are 1/4" thinner than the ones I'm replacing. Do I have to return this axle or can I just buy some 10mm shorter M10 bolts? Thanks.

Factory service manual says the later axle & CV's can be used on '69 thru '71 cars ... just use the shorter Allen bolts, and new Schnorr washers!

Thanks a lot, Warren. Knew I could count on you for the answer. I'll be back on the road Monday night!
