New Here and My first new to me 86 911

Thought I would create a thread introduce myself and share with you my recent purchase. Picked this up last week, has 100k miles on it, overall good shape. Couple body bubble rust starting to form pin size here and there that I will address. Engine leaks a little, nothing to worry about though. I am an all type car enthusiast, Trans am (heads cam), turbo Audis, Land rovers, jeeps you name it. Always wanted a 911 and finally lucky enough to have the best wife in the world who helped me find this one! My plans will be address all of the minor stuff fist. Re-parked the wiper blades on driver side already, could not stand the way they looked parked on passenger side middle of windshield. Fix clock, fix oil level sending unit. Actually just picked up some 21mm spacers from a guy down the street, so will be needing to purchase studs, will probably do rotors and pads since they seem fairly worn. I fell in love after putting 100 mile on it over the weekend, nothing like it!

So true! Drive it lots, get to know the sounds and feel. The car is capable of more than you can handle, so be careful coming out of those turns!

If you search around the site, there are some good lists of things to check. Some deferred maintenance can be done cheaply, and save you money in the long run.

Yep, My first priority is to check out the brakes and suspension (bushings etc.). Then I will perform a compression test to see how healthy she is, oil pressure test as well. After all of the mechanics are check out I will move towards the aesthetics. Thanks guys for your comments. One thing aesthetically that is getting on my nerves as of late are the headlight bezels being chrome, I may get a set and paint to match body.

You only need to buy the paintable trim rings that go over the chrome rings.
Pelican sells those.

Clock fix.

^^^^^
Capacitor(s) replacement-your most likely clock fix.

Also, please check my threads for additional fusing
which may have not been implemented.

Fusing on the 3.2 cars, was not Porsche's finest hour.....

pm me as needed.

Best,

Gerry
