This is a really interesting thread. The wire to mine had slipped down to an adjacent hole and had actually worn through the insulation and was shorting out the battery. It took me a while to find the short. Which I only found by taking out each fuse and checking current flow at the battery with the ground wire off. Crazy stuff.
