Possible to use Neatrix with Sway Away spring plates?
 

Hi,

I'd like to replace the rear spring plates in my '73 911s with Sway Away adjustable plates. However, I am concerned about the squeaking that will result from the plastic bushings in the Sway Away plates. The car is intended for track, with some street use, and I'm thinking that I will be unhappy with a lot of squeeking.

Quesiton: is it possible to use Neatrix bushings with the Sway Away spring plates? Do I just slide the plastic bushings off and slide the Neatrix ones on? Or is some modification required? Are there any disadvantages to this? Has anyone tried it?

If your tracking your car, use the poly bushings. Add a zirc to the outer spring plate cover is your concerned about the possibility of sqeaking. In the 3 years I have used mine on and off the track, I have had no discernable sounds from these. The A-arm bushings are much more of a noise issue, and that is mostly from poor fitment and the binding that goes along with it.

When we (Richard Leschander, marcesq, and I) put sway-aways on Richard's Carrera, we pulled off the poly bushings and used Neatrix bushings.

The Neatrix fit right on there. But the trick is then getting them into the car. You should probably shave the inner and outer sides of the bushings a little, so they don't bulge so much. We managed to get them in with just a bunch of goop and then used the cover plates and bolts to press them in. But when I took her in for corner balancing, they said the spring plates are supposed to hang almost freely. They were stiff as a board because we didn't modify the bushings and they were soooo tight. So the shop is doing it all over again for me - and for plenty of $$$:( .
