need help securing OEM jack in front trunk
 

Hi guys, I'm trying to secure the jack stand of my 1974 911 in place. PO had multiple elastics that got the job done but I was cleaning the area and thought of doing it 'the right way'. I knew I needed the strap so I went ahead and got a $50 strap part no: 91172202101 (ok, ok, let's just say I usually have better judgement) -- I was feeling dumb for paying $63.47 Canadian dollars including all taxes but the worst part is that I still can't secure it!! I feel like im missing a part/hook (circled on the picture).

any ideas? if you have an OEM setup, can you please share pix?

I think the rubber strap goes around the larger body of the jack which gives it the stretch it needs to stay in place. Hard to tell but it looks like your bracket might be bent inward?

Looks like you could take this screw out....

agreed, i could and will probably remove the screw but what would the top side of the bracket use as a hook? in the picture where im holding it with my fingers, the bottom loop of the strap is secure and tight, but the top is loose, If i had removed my fingers it would have fallen.

The strap should be flipped and attached under the clamp at the top.

I think that what Goth said is correct.
You have to flip the strap top to bottom.

You need to remove the wire part that is in the bracket with the screw. you have to substitute that part with the wire part from the new strap.
The large wire part goes in the lower bracket, you pull the strap and secure it there.
The upper wire part is fixed.
First picture this part has to be changed for the new one.
Second picture this part goes there
Third picture this part goes in the bracket in the fourth picture.
I hope I am clear and you understand what I am trying to say.

it worked! what I did is I used the old piece of square wire as it was closely tight with the screw/bracket. here are some pictures for future reference. donporfi: I owe you a cold beer :)

... and now off to cleaning the rest of the front trunk!

Well done. Beware, those jacks are notorious for slipping and or gauging your door if they slip. I carry a can of Fix a Flat and tire plugs just to avoid using the stock jack. On long trips I take a scissor jack and a jack adapter plate which fits in the jack reciever. The stock jack lives in the attic with my AC system and overriders
