Drone Question 2 in 2 out

Guys,

I'm getting conflicting results when doing research on this and am hoping to hear from guys currently running or who have owned the Dansk 2 in 2 out sport muffler with your SSIs. I am really considering going with a Dansk GT3 with my SSIs and love the way it sounds; however, I recently was told that it will drone between 1800 and 3200 rpm (which is roughly in the range while cruising at highway speeds...at least the 3200 mark is....not too worried at the lower revs as it will rarely ever be there).
I was set on the Dansk as I have heard from several others that the Dansk setup is the least likely to drone like the other aftermarket stuff. I really want the 2 out setup...looking for help from those of you experienced with this....OBRIGADO!

I have an M&K 2 in 2 out which drones in that general RPM range. I installed an internal cap which eliminated 95% of the drone. I also used a Car Chemistry three plate baffle in the Open pipe to soften things down. I’m happy.

I rode in a 1974 911 last week with original exhaust setup...2 in 2 out....no drone. Outlets were small stock straight pipes and about 7 inches apart or so....isnt this a Dansk?

every car is different. i have an M&K 2 in 2 out with SSI's and a 3.2. i have no drone at any rpm, and it's actually quite reasonable until 4K at which point it absolutely screams.

you really won't know until you put one on...

This is not a factory original muffler to a '74.

There has been some discussion about this. I have read that the newer models drone less? The single out Dansk has no drone.

Dansk vs m&k
dansk 70 mm sport muffler?

My Dansk sport was a single out. No drone. I added a second outlet and now it drones around 2400 RPM. I actually like it. Above 2800 RPM the drone is gone. You can't hear it with the window up anyway.

Dynosoar: Which muffler are you asking about? Dansk makes a model with two outlets, one on each side, and one with outlets in the middle.

Moderator: If you can tell me how to search Pelican's catalog for all Dansk sport mufflers, I will take off the above link.

My brother has SSI with a dansk sport. My ears are really sensitive to low tones and I don't mind riding in his car. Now his B&B setup... yeah, that thing has some serious drone.

I have a Dansk GT3 with SSIs on my '83 911SC. The drone is minimal. You get used to it quickly. The sound is intoxicating and everyone loves it.

If you're really worried, try to get a really good price on it and if you don't like it sell it. This is really the only way to know for sure if YOU approve of it on your setup, not some highly subjective internet thread. They are your ears man.

No idea...I picked it up due to its in/out diameter/baffling, on the recommendation of an engine builder, to retain my mid range. 83 ROW.
I had a dansk sport 2 in 1 out that was excellent but I became a slave to fashion and wanted a two out....the collective diameter measurements of the two out are just a tad over the one out single outlet diameter.
It is no better than the one out dansk in performance (equal imo) but does sound better at wot/near wot and looks great.

If you go with a more 'open flow' muffler (louder...that many like) it will soften the mid range torque of a stock motor and I wanted to avoid that...this works for me.

Not as dramatic as some of the larger piped jobs but works well and looks good...no drone.

My Dansk 2x2 is not the GT model, but fwiw, I have no discernible drone with SSIs. I had an M&K for a while. It sounded great but very loud. Love the Dansk.

This is more in line with what I have heard with the Dansk 2x2s. Does your Dansk sound more aggressive than the single outlet sport or the stock exhaust? No real use in changing stock unless there is a definite improvement in tone especially at WOT and at Porsche RPMs..lol

FWIW, I noticed a difference in power and sound when I changed to a Dansk sport 2 in 1 out from a stock muffler. No drone and a pleasant sporty tone. Louder than stock, but not obnoxious. Dual out is probably more of the same. The sound clip in #7 is much louder than my 2 to 1 was. I cut a second hole and added a second pipe on the right on my muffler. Not what I would recommend, but similar to the video is the result, with some droning.

When you say love it or hate it...are we talking about the same drone? When I think if drone I think of a bellowing resonance inside the car that makes your head explode. Not sure how anyone could love that? I have heard of some people saying they like the drone but they were referring to the tone outside the car. Is this what you mean?
