A question thats been bugging me...
 

What exactly is an E-ticket ride???

One of the best rides. Comes from the old Disneyland days when the rides took tickets. The "E" ticket rides were the best.

Josh. The term was derived from disneys ticket pricings. Back in the day, the coolest rides were E tickets.

Josh, in the "good old days", before you purchased an all day pass to Disneyland, you got onto different rides there by using different (and differently priced) tickets. They were classed A through E. If I remember it right, Dumbo was like an "A" ticket, and you worked on through until, again (if I remember it right) the Matterhorn was an "E" ticket - one of the best rides going. You purchased tickets in books (there were different classed of tickets in each book) and handed the tickets to the person in charge of the ride. So there you have it. Guess which one a 911 is?!

never enough E-tickets and always left over A-tickets.

fyi, the price today for an adult entry to the Magic Kingdom is $59!

I "remember when" you can go to disneyland and use the tix, if you didn't use them one could use them on the next trip. As steve911 mentioned, most of the time they were A tickets left to be used. They were only good for the mickey cartoon theatre on mains st. However, on a very hot day, those tickets were used quite fast to beat the heat. If memory serves an A ticket was like 10 cents and an E ticket was 75 cents. The others were in between. Of course you can buy individual and book tickets. Back then an E ticket was expensive, thus the "best" rides.

Today, an E-ticket (for me at least) costs about $15. It includes a ride to 14,000 ft. in a Twin Otter, 50+ seconds of 180mph head-down freefall (or up to 75 seconds if you like to fly on your belly), a few minutes of very fast high-G canopy flight, and usually a very cool 360 degree hook-turn swoop landing! Disney Land, Schmisney Land. Skydiving is the modern-day E-ticket!

Wow, it's funny how something like a ticket book can bring back so many memories from when I was a kid. My family would come down every summer to visit relatives and it always included a trip to Disney. You always went home with alot of "A" tickets and never had enough "E" tickets. Thanks for the memories, those were good times.

Eric- I did that sky-dive thing- my back was not right for 2 months. That and you really can't breathe, hear, or see while you are falling....

Definately not the "e" ticket ride for me. I'll take the 911 up to the mountains anyday over stepping out of a perfectly good plane.

There is no such thing as a perfectly good airplane at a drop zone! http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif So, did you do a tandem, AFF, or go through the static line class? I agree that while tandems are the quickest way to experience freefall, they can be not-so-fun experiences with the wrong instructor. As far as the hearing/seeing/breathing issues, they all go away when you overcome that initial fear-of-dying that comes with your first few jumps. Regarding the back problem, it was probably due your instructor telling you to arch as had as you could. It is somewhat necessary for learning the basics of body position and stability, but I have seen a lot of people over-exerting themselves. All my skydives now days are "freefly" jumps(hence the screen name) which let you be in very relaxed body positions.

My E-ticket ride this summer was taking the 911 over the North Cascades Highway early in the morning with no traffic....pure bliss.

E ticket ride?

It's an early 911, properly set-up, with a carbureted 3.6 making 300+ horsepower!

. . . and a "2.4" and "T" badge on the rear deck!

Aside from Disney, you can still get an E-ticket ride just departing on a Southwest 737 out of John Wayne in Orange in a routine noise abatement takeoff.
