Best steering wheel for 3.2 Carrera?

My next project might be a steering wheel install. The stock wheel is pretty worn.

The 3.2 lacks power steering, making it that much more important to have a grippy, sturdy, tough steering wheel with good material. I'm also thinking 3-spoke to make it less obstructive when turning?

What are the board's thoughts..

A few logical options spring to mind. (available from our host)

Standard Carrera

930S

or momo Prototipo (this particular wheel may not be a prototipo but it's very similar)

The prototipo looks good - anyone (particularly 3.2 owners) have a good or bad experience with any particular steering wheel?

Momo prototipo's get a lot of good comments.
Looks cool and it's period correct too.

You may want to buy this hub too, to make sure that you have enough room between the top of the dash and the steeringwheel.

Better still, opt for a quickrelease hub so you can remove the wheel alltogether, makes for a great anti theft device.

can't comment yet, but I got a prototipo for my birthday. waiting for my car to get back from it's spa day at the shop so I can install it. it looks great and feels sturdy. no power steering here either, the slightly smaller diameter of the prototipo compared to the stock wheel has two disadvantages. it blocks most of the speedometer and makes turning the wheel at low speeds a little bit harder.

Some years ago I had a Momo Montecarlo in another car. I loved the way it felt.
Maybe not entirely period correct, (the one from Ruf isn't too) but nice looking.

Why not get your existing one recovered?

You know it fits, and more importantly, it goes with your interior.

For a change, get it recovered in the thicker sport wheel style.

I hated the stock wheel in my 87. I installed a Momo prototipo and I am loving it.

I think the early Carrera 'fatty' three spoke steering wheel looks great in the 84-89 Carrera. Period correct but with the fatter grip. not easy to come by and finding one is my goal.

I recently just sold this wheel, it was the OEM wheel that came on my SC.

Momo Monte Carlo for me. If I didn't have the Monte I'd run a Momo Prototipo.

Cheers

Momo Champion for me, replaced the Momo horn button with the Porsche crest.
Comfortable, small, and the right wheel for the 3.2

LOVE my black Prototipo. I intially replaced the stock wheel with a Momo Monte Carlo, but later switched to the Prototipo, & I like it much better. It looks & feels great, & I think it is very "period correct" for the car.
