520 degree turbo

we have an infrared camera at work. don't know if it is more accurate than the laser therms, but the hot side on my turbo was 520 degrees, cold side about 130.
exhaust pipes around 380-400.
no issues, just thought the thermal camera was pretty cool.
should have checked the bearing housing temp.

just had a thought, anyone ever put a temp probe inside the intake to monitor air temps.

seems like a reasonable number considering under WOT they'll glow red and continue to change colors from there as the heat increases

That's pretty hot. I did see my garage Reznor heater hit 760 on the interior plenums with the HF laser thermometer, FWIW.

I would think those cameras would generate pretty accurate numbers given they are meant to assist people in earning money. Just saying.

However, there may be a smart phone app and a thingie you attach to the camera lens that does about the same thing with less accuracy.

You need to take that bad boy home on a winter's day and go to town inside your house. S Carolina - or on a hot summer day.

Running about 220 out the compressor side of the turbo.

not really worried about it, I know they glow at times.

even the collector pipe before the turbo was 520.
I may check the bearing housing today or this weekend.
I need to work on the BMW though
