oil pressure sender switch picture on a carrera

Anyone have a picture of the above part, so I can see if it is leaking. A search of the board talked lots about it, but no pictures.

Thanks

The idiot light sender, or the pressure gauge sender? The latter looks like a tin can about 3" in dia.

If it is the pressure gauge sender that you are talking about, on the carrera, it will be between the fan and the a/c compressor sitting on top of a little block that your tensioner oil line on the right side attatches to, if for the idiot light it will be at the top of the engine, at the trans end of engine. The little sender next to the "can" type oil pressure sender on the 3.2 is the temp sensor.

If this is what your looking for, its the oil sender unit right next to the fan and kinda under the A/C compressor on the back edge of the motor.

Michael,

If you are looking for the oil pressure switch at the back of the motor, here is a pic (along with the thermostat and breather cover):

Missed you on the Ortega run today, we had quite a few people and than a great BBQ at Richard's.

Palph,

Thanks, I am hoping that is what is leaking.

I was bummed that I missed the run, but I did teach my daughter to case after some nasty geese in the park, it was priceless.

Maybe I misunderstood what he was asking for, but in my Bently's manual (pp.170-6) it shows the oil pressure warning light switch.

Question idiot light

maybe I bought wrong part, glad this thread is here. My red oil pressure light comes on after driving awhile but druck pressure is good. I noticed my oil pressure gauge to the left of the druck pressure gauge is pegged all the way to the top when driving is it supposed too. Thanks, was told if red light comes on its your idiot light switch that is bad.

KCPSG,

The green/black shown in the above picture is the oil temperature sensor.

Unfortunately you used another technical error printed in the Bentley Manual.

Your oil pressure is good.....what does it show and does it go up/down with your rpms?
The other gauge is your oil fill gauge.....when driving it normally registers nothing or barely off the bottom of the scale. It will only show 'about' what oil you have in your oil tank when at operating temperature, and at a standstill on level ground.....it is a rather worthless gauge.
If pegged all the way to the top you either have overfilled your oil (oil measured ONLY when at full op temp with engine running on level ground....only fill 1/2 way between the dipstick marks)
Or, more than likely the ground is bad.....you can pull the gauge out (press fit) and clean the wiring contacts and check your ground...ground is a brown wire on Porsches.

Don't sweat it, we all start somewhere. The fun is in learning along the way!

No sweat....the aircooled 911's have their idiosyncrasies...but that is what gives them character.
