Stupid Question re: Headers

I know that this will sound like a stupid question, but if I were to install headers on my '73 911, is it possible to get heat?

Rot 911 02-11-2003 01:05 PM

only if you do some fabricating. do a search in this forum using "headers" and "heat"

I know that SSI's will...but if you install Bursch ones they won't...

Headers....usually refer to naked, equal length pipes that bolt to the heads and go back to a collector and then ya bolt on a dual inlet muffler or dual outlet like Supertrapps or stingers.

Heat exchangers are pipes wrapped with an enclosure that allows air to be blown in between, to be heated by the exhaust and then returned to the cabin without gassing you in the process.....

Early HEs or SSIs, described as pre 74 HEs, do both. They are equal length pipes, with enclosures. SSIs are aftermarket copies that are stainless steel, Early HEs are made by Porsche, oem mild steel that rust.

Other companies do the early HE copies....SSI just happened to be the most recognizable.....kinda like Kleenex versus "tissue".....
