I’m tired of looking at the two large BLOBS that pass for bumpers that our fine government called for on my 1976 911s.
Can anybody tell me if there were any difference on the euro version of this car and if there was can somebody show me a picture? Thanks for any help that you can provide. Jv ’76 911s |

For the Euro bumper the pads were about half as wide side to side.

I was inspired by Eric Mc to remove mine last weekend. It took about 1/2 hour
and those pads plus the valence are 20lbs of fat behind the engine. My car is low enough that the pads are useless in a collision anyway. There are 6 holes per side to fill, but the car looks much better imo without the pads.

Can I take the pads offf then fill with body filler and paint? How would the rub strip look with the pads removed?

jv- yes you can just fill and paint the holes. The end of the rub strip (last 2") is held
down by the rubber bumpers, but it's a simple matter to dab a bit of adhesive between the strip and bumper and tape it till the glue dries. Do a search for Eric Mckenna's car and you can see what the bumper looks like w/o the pads.
