Vent window frame
Has anyone ever replaced these items? They are the rubber guide that mounts to the top corner of the vent window frame.

yes. you need a 3X or 4X rivet gun and the proper set.

I did it without the rivet gun, using a punch to set the rivets. Not the easiest thing but it did work.
When I got my window replaced, they adjusted it wrong and when I got it back, that cap had split again. Argh. Window frames are out for paint right now so I'm thinking about repairing it while it's out. The stupid little part is too expensive to replace again, for me. |
I just chucked a piece of 1/4” aluminum into a vise and used that as a backing to install the rivets with a punch. Wasn’t that bad of a job. You really have to be very careful on setting the window stop to not tear up the rubber again, and I installed an additional fastener in the adjustment track to prevent it from loosening and coming out of adjustment.

The correct window position after adjustment doesn’t tear the rubber and seals the top as well.
