How do you remove these electrical harness holders in the engine compartment?

I cant see them in PET, it's the plastic holders for the harness in the engine compartment. The holders are up against the firewall, they hold the harness to the cross member. Kind of like a zip tie.

I am getting ready to clean and paint the engine compartment and I need to get them out.

Are they a one time use thing and they break coming out and use new ones to re-install?

If so any suggestion on how to find new clips? I tried searching several ways but don't see them.

Maybe I need to try and get a picture.

thx

They are like a plastic 'moly bolt' there is a split pin that pushes into the hole in the crossmember and then you push in the attached plastic pin to spread and lock the 'moly' anchor. You can try to gently pry them out with door panel clip remover, (like a forked spatula) I use to get these from Wurth, but lately they haven't had them, might be available from Stoddard,,,you'll have to call and ask.

I'm cleaning my engine bay also. I tried to use needle nose pliers to squeeze the plastic pin together but the pin broke off (maybe 30 year old plastic). Since they are behind the metal flange, i just taped them up and painted around them. Not concourse, but I found these on Amazon by searching for 'push mount releasable cable tie' -

https://www.amazon.com/Uxcell-Nylon-Releasable-Mount-Length/dp/B00UYSJU1S

I didn't buy them so make sure he size is right.

Yeah they are so old and brittle, would love to replace them. Thanks for the suggestions. Those amazon ties might do the trick

I just popped a couple of these out on the weekend to. Happened while I was also loosening up the wiring for cleaning and paint work. Everyone broke. I have suitable replacements from NAPA. They seem pretty common so I bet most auto parts stores have something suitable
