Sunroof rear height adjust

Yes, again! The car is a 78 930
I have read probably 10-12 threads on this. Still issues. Sunroof opens and closes well. New cables and seals installed. The problem is the rear height is about 3/8” from closing. Adjusted the serrated lift points countless times - no remedy.

It acts as if the sunroof needs to go forward more to get the wedge shaped plastic runners to strike the plastic domed piece to raise up completely. But it is as forward as much as it can be.

One suggestion was to actually lower the pivot post to allow a shallower angle so that it may raise easier. Well, no that didn’t work either. I raised those adjustments to full height and minimum height adjustments. No difference.

So any suggestions other that a heavy hammer adjustment would help tremendously.

Thanks all

New updated side cable guides as well? They work with the new style cable as I understand.

Yes new cables and seals.

The pivot hardware acts as a limiter for height adjustment. The rear of the sunroof lifts up when the wedge shaped plastic attachments hit the plastic domed cap which protrudes thru the rails. I may have to figure a way to raise those up a bit - but it originally is not designed that way. So I will remove the sunroof - AGAIN - for the 20th time and try some new adjustments.

Right now - sunroof delete sounds great

has anyone inserted shims on the plastic wedge guides so that it creates a larger gap between the guide and the bottom skin of the sunroof. In turn, that would raise the rear of the sunroof that shim thickness?

mrm930,

I have. I used washers and increased the length of the bolts to accommodate. Works just fine. BTW when you reattach those clips make sure the travelling part is as far forward as it can go and still be able to reattach to the panel. This way you get as much height and forward force as possible.
